Poretech was started in December 1988 by Leon De Jager after he was offered the Micromeritics distributorship. Micromeritics is Poretech’s main supplier and Poretech has the sole agency for Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Hunterlab sole agency representation was given to Poretech in 1993 for the sub-Saharan Africa division. Later that year the Horiba agency for Air and Water Pollution monitoring in Botswana and Sub-Saharan African countries was added.

In 2006 Charles Noakes was appointed as a Sales Engineer after completing his B-Tech in Chemistry, in 2016 Charles was promoted to General Manager and in March 2019 Leon retired and Charles acquired Leon’s shares in the company.

Poretech grew from 2 employees to 6 employees from 2006 to 2017.

In May 2019 Poretech moved to its new office in Ruimsig.
